Water main break at Flushing Meadows forces cancellation of Queens Theatre weekend shows

A water main break on Friday at Flushing Meadows Corona Park forced the Queens Theatre to cancel its performances this weekend.

“It is our unfortunate duty to inform you that a major water main break has taken place in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park,” Queens Theatre said in a Feb. 16 email. “This has created safety concerns in park areas surrounding our building, and has cut off all water service to the facility. Sadly, without water service, we are unable to welcome the public into our venues, and we are forced to cancel all performances of Broadway Valentine and Titan Theatre Company’s Medea scheduled between February 16-18.”

Titan Theatre Company’s Greek drama “Medea” is expected to resume its performance schedule next week, starting on Thursday, Feb. 22. Ticket holders for this weekend’s shows can swap their tickets to a future performance at no cost.

Queens Theatre is working with the producers of Broadway Valentine — which features three real-life married couples who are also Broadway stars — for a date to be announced. In the meantime, ticket holders can exchange their tickets for other performances on the Queens Theatre schedule in the weeks to come. These include Rioult Dance NY the weekend of March 3-4; Katori Hall’s The Mountaintop March the weekend of March 10-11; and the Broadway Kids concert the weekend of March 24-25.
