Police arrested a man who was connected to a shooting in Cambria Heights that left a man dead early Sunday morning.
According to police, at 4:38 a.m. on June 3, officers from the 105th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a male shot in front of a home on 230th Street near 120th Avenue.
Upon their arrival, cops found 26-year-old Derrick Stansbury, a resident of Rosedale, in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle, unconscious and unresponsive, with multiple gunshot wounds in the torso.
EMS responded to the scene and took Stansbury to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
As a result of an investigation, on June 5, detectives arrested 24-year-old John Hines of 111th Avenue in Queens Village, an acquaintance of Stansbury through mutual friends. At this time, it is not clear what the motive was behind the shooting; sources familiar with the investigation, however, believe that it stemmed from a dispute between Stansbury and Hines.
Hines was charged with one count of murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
