A homeless man has been locked up on murder charges for allegedly stabbing another undomiciled man to death near a Woodside drug store earlier this week.

Antonio Cabrera, 45, is accused of killing Velibor Flores, 39, who is also homeless, during a dispute in the vicinity of Roosevelt Avenue and 60th Street on the morning of July 10. Though police initially reported the case as a shooting, an autopsy revealed that Flores was, in fact, fatally stabbed several times in the torso.

The New York Daily News reported that Cabrera and Flores were drinking in a public plaza adjacent to a Duane Reade drug store and got into a dispute with one another that eventually turned physical.

Officers from the 108th Precinct and EMS units responded to a 911 call at the location just after 12:30 a.m. on July 10. Paramedics found the wounded Flores and rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, detectives tracked down Cabrera and booked him on second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The Daily News reported that Cabrera is due to be arraigned on July 14 in Queens Criminal Court.
