Detectives need the public’s help in finding the bandit who pilfered a wallet from a senior woman in Sunnyside earlier this month.
Police said the theft occurred at 1:09 p.m. on July 13 at the 46th Street-Bliss Street station on the 7 line, above Queens Boulevard.
At the turnstiles, authorities said, the perpetrator struck up a conversation with the 85-year-old woman. He then managed to steal the woman’s purse, which contained $130 in cash and her debit card, then fled out of the station toward the street, heading in an unknown direction.
On July 21, the NYPD released security footage of the suspect, who’s described as a Hispanic man wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and yellow boots.
Anyone with information regarding the thief’s whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA), visit the Crime Stoppers website or send a text message to 274637 (then enter TIP577). All calls and messages are kept confidential.
