After eight years of traipsing around the country — including Los Angeles, Miami and Austin — Fool’s Gold, the indie hip-hop label headquartered in downtown Brooklyn, brought its famed Day Off festival to Queens.
The label, funded by DJs Alain “A-Trak” Macklovitch and Nick “Catchdubs” Barat, includes rappers like Kid Cudi and Just Blaze, but the Day Off concerts are a showcase for up-and-coming acts — some signed to Fool’s Gold, some not.
The concert was held at the Knockdown Center, a former furniture factory on Flushing Avenue in Maspeth that, after some neighborhood resistance, has settled in as a major music venue in the borough in the last several years.
