Police have released additional images of a suspect who is said to be involved in a deadly gang-related shooting at a Jackson Heights subway station earlier this month.
According to police, at 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 5, 26-year-old Ramiro Gutierrez, who is an alleged member of the MS-13 street gang, and an unknown man began to beat 20-year-old Abel Mosso, an alleged rival gang member, while riding the 7 train. When the train pulled into the 90th Street station, the men dragged Mosso off the train and the fight spilled out onto the platform.
Video recorded by a straphanger, prosecutors say, allegedly shows Mosso being repeatedly punched during the assault. During the assault, Gutierrez allegedly pulled himself away and shot Mosso, who suffered several gunshot wounds to his face and head.
EMS responded to the scene and declared Mosso dead. Gutierrez allegedly identified himself in a still taken from the viral video.
Gutierrez was arrested on Feb. 5 and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree gang assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The suspect at large is described as a Hispanic man between the ages of 20 and 25 years old. He was last seen wearing a dark “New York” skull hat, all dark clothing and white sneakers.
