A popular outdoor summer music series is set to take place at MoMA PS1 on Saturday.
Warm Up is returning to the Long Island City venue for its 22nd year and features a wide range of artists across multiple genres.
The series features live music every Saturday throughout July and August performed by more than 75 artists.
Warm Up is one of the longest running music events housed within a museum. The series features a mix of emerging and established artists.
Kicking off the series will be the collaborative duo of Freddie Gibbs and Madlib on July 6. The rappers will be the headline performers on a stacked line-up of both local and international acts.
Each year, Warm Up takes place within a site-specific installation by the winners of the Young Architects Program. This year’s winner, Hórama Rama, by Mexico City-based architects Pedro and Juana, is a 40-foot cyclorama featuring jungle imagery that sits atop the courtyard walls.
Tickets bought in advance of each event will cost $18, while those tickets bought on the day will cost $22. All events are free for Long Island City residents with proof of address (11101 or 11109 zip code), while MoMA members will receive a 50 percent discount.
In the past, Warm Up has played host to household names like Cardi B and Solange before they gained widespread fame.
Warm Up attendees are also encouraged to visit the museum galleries and experience MoMA PS1’s acclaimed exhibitions.
