One of New York City’s biggest Halloween parades is returning to Jackson Heights for its 29th year on Oct. 31.
The giant costume march, run by the Jackson Heights Beautification Group, typically draws more than 3,000 attendees and is deemed the largest children’s Halloween parade in New York City.
The event begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the corner of 89th Street and 37th Avenue. Participants will then continue, in costume, down 37th Avenue to 76th Street.
At the end of the route, 3,200 bags stuffed with candy will be handed out to children participating in the parade – one of the event’s highlights. The Newtown High School Key Club will be assisting with filling the bags.
The parade also features the P.S. 145 band and the I.S. 230 marching band as well as the Jackson Heights Flying Puppets.
Community organizations like local schools, scout troops and Community Board 3 will all be taking part in the parade as well.
