A Brooklyn man was arrested for driving without a license and while under the influence of drugs after he struck and killed a 52-year-old man in Jamaica earlier this month.

On Saturday, Aug. 15, around midnight, Craig Franklin, 50, was driving a 2013 Honda Odyssey westbound on Liberty Avenue, according to police.

As he approached the intersection of Liberty and Inwood Street, Franklin drove his car into a 52-year-old man, who was standing in the middle of the roadway near the double yellow lines marking the division between the east and westbound lanes, cops said.

Police arrived to the scene to find the 52-year-old lying on the pavement with severe head trauma, the NYPD said.

Franklin remained at the scene and was taken into custody. He was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operator, driving a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs and driving without a license around 12:30 a.m., on Sunday Aug. 16, police said.

The identity of the 52-year-old is being withheld until his family is properly notified.
