An alert MTA motorman broke up an attempted robbery on board an S shuttle train in Rockaway Park last week, according to the NYPD.
Police from the 100th Precinct and Transit District 23 are looking for two men who approached a 42-year-old woman who was aboard the subway just before 5 a.m. on Monday, July 18.
The men demanded the victim hand over her purse and took off with it but got spooked by the inquisitive motorman and threw the purse under a seat and took off to another car, police said.
The bag was recovered and the woman was not injured during the failed robbery and the two men were last seen walking on Rockaway Beach Boulevard, according to authorities.
The NYPD released surveillance images of the two men on the subway platform. They had dark complexions and one wore a gray hooded sweatshirt with red lettering, white pants and dark shoes. The other suspect wore a dark hooded sweatshirt with white details, dark pants and dark shoes.
