A 15-year-old boy was stabbed in the chest after he left August Martin High School in South Jamaica on Monday afternoon and the suspect remains at large, according to the NYPD.

Police from the 113th Precinct in Jamaica responded to a 911 call of an assault in progress near the intersection of 155th Street and Baisley Boulevard at around 2:35 p.m. on March 13. Upon their arrival, officers found the youngster with a stab wound to his chest, according to an NYPD spokesman.

EMS responded to the crime scene near the high school and rushed the victim to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

A preliminary investigation determined the teen got into an altercation with an unidentified man near Baisley Pond Park, just across the street from the school, when the suspect suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest before running off in an unknown direction, according to authorities.

The NYPD spokesman could not provide a description of the assailant and said that there have been no arrests related to the case. The investigation is ongoing.
