The Kiwanis Club of Glendale is continuing its annual tradition of hosting a summer street fair along the busy stretch of Myrtle Avenue between Fresh Pond Road and Forest Avenue on Sunday, July 23.

Vendors and local businesses will provide fairgoers with prizes, free giveaway items and key community-building conversations. There will also be various games, activities and entertainment for kids to enjoy during the fair, which is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“It’s going to be a wonderful day,” said long-time Glendale Kiwanis member Joe Aiell0. “It’s going to be our first weekend without rain. So that’s a plus.”

Over 40 vendors are expected to participate in the street fair, which has taken place in Glendale for over 25 years. Proceeds from the event benefit Glendale Kiwanis programs and initiatives throughout the year.

“This is an opportunity for our merchants to have their own streets fair at least once a year or two,” said Ted Renz, executive director of the Myrtle Avenue Business District. “So it’s compatible for us and we always support the work of the Kiwanis.”

The Myrtle Avenue Business Improvement District will also host its Ridgewood Farmstand event on Cypress Avenue between Myrtle and Putnam avenues from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 22. The farmstand is also available every weekend in the summer.

The Glendale Kiwanis Club is also celebrating its 70 years as a dedicated group of neighbors alike who make work toward bettering the Glendale community.

Looking forward, the Glendale Kiwanis will also host the Glendale Kiwanis Community Day event at The Shops at Atlas Park, located at 8000 Cooper Ave. in Glendale, on Saturday, Sept 9. All are encouraged to join as Kiwanis continues its 70th anniversary.
