The Bayside Business Association held its 23rd annual golf outing at Clearview Golf Course on Sept. 20. Following the outing, the top performers were recognized and John Ryan, the owner of One Station Plaza, Bourbon Street and Austin’s Ale House, was honored with the community achievement award.
“We’re honoring [John] because he’s been a pillar in the community for many years and he’s very deserving of this award and recognition,” Bayside Business Association President Ed Probst said. “He’s been an integral part of Bayside. [John Ryan] has humbly provided our community with tremendous support through the good times and the bad, even during COVID. You can always see John smiling out front of One Station Plaza, greeting customers who are really his friends. That’s what John’s all about.”
For Ryan, this award made for a great birthday present, as he had just turned 60 years old. The Bayside Business Association even brought out a cake for him.
“I’m speechless for once in my life,” Ryan said. “I really appreciate all the tremendously nice words. This BBA is outstanding and I just want to thank you for putting me as an honoree today because, honestly, I just love Bayside. I have no other words except thank you so much.”
The winning team ended up being Dave Higgins, Joseph Ciminelli, Jim Rizzo and Francis Eddings. They combined to put together a score of eight under par, at 63. Louis Giano won two of the longest drive awards. Francis McLoughlin won nearest to the pin award.
