Police searching for a moped-riding suspect who stole $36K in Maspeth burglary

Police are searching for the man responsible for entering a Maspeth business, removing $36,000, and fleeing the scene on a moped on Thursday, Oct. 5.

Police need help to identify the whereabouts of a moped-riding man in connection with a burglary in Maspeth last week.

Police say an uninvited man entered the building of New Midori Trading Inc., located at 58-08 58th Ave. in Maspeth — within the confines of the 104th Precinct — at approximately 2:58 p.m. on Oct. 5 and stole $36,000 from the property before fleeing the scene.

The burglar, who was last seen wearing a black helmet, mask, shirt, pants and sneakers, fled the scene northbound on 58th Avenue on a black and yellow moped, police said. He is approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium complexion and slim build.
