A 16-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight while walking past a Forest Hills medical facility last month, according to the NYPD.
Police say the teenager was in front of 96-10 Metropolitan Ave. at around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, when he was approached by a stranger who allegedly pulled out a handgun and forcibly removed the victim’s necklace, earrings and his wallet containing $30 in cash, police said. The suspect ran off eastbound on Metropolitan Avenue toward Sybilla Street.
Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills are still looking for the gunman who remains at large more than a month after the stickup.
The NYPD released a new surveillance image of the suspect on Nov. 28 and described him as having a medium complexion and long black hair. He was last seen wearing a dark winter jacket with a fur-lined hood, gray pants and white sneakers.
A reward of up to $3,500 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
Through Nov. 26, the 112th Precinct has reported 68 robberies so far in 2023, 17 fewer than the 85 reported at the same point last year, a decrease of 20%, according to the most recent CompStat report.
