Affordable housing lottery opens in Rego Park, rents start at $2,100 a month

Four affordable housing units are now up for grabs in a Rego Park development, with monthly rents ranging from $2,100-$2,500.

The units are part of a 3-story mixed-use building at 63-16 102nd St. that consists of 11 residences, seven of which will be rented at market rate. A lottery was recently opened for the four affordable units by the city. Two are one-bedroom and two are two-bedroom.

Each of the affordable units are for residents earning 130% of the area median income (AMI). For the one-bedroom units, the area median income ranges from $72,000-$165,230, depending on the size of the household. The area median income for the two-bedroom units ranges from $85,715-$198,250. The one-bedroom units are meant for between one and three people, while the two-bedroom units are meant for between two and five people.

Amenities include washers and dryers in the units, air conditioning, patios or balconies, energy-efficient appliances, high-end countertops and finishes, smart controls for heating and/or cooling, hardwood floors, an elevator, security cameras, green space, an accessible entrance, assigned parking spaces and intercommunication device.

The development is a 10-minute walk from the 63rd Drive-Rego Park train station, which provides access to the M and R trains. The building is also pet-friendly, with multiple pets allowed.
