Whitestone teenager Vasilios Golias was found dead in his Whitestone home on Wednesday morning.

Police officers responded to a 911 call at 8:30 a.m. regarding an unconscious teen. The responding officers and EMS found the 17-year-old not breathing and unresponsive upon arrival.

Officials declared him dead on the scene and began carrying out an investigation into the cause of his death, which is currently underway.

Council Member Vickie Paladino, who represents the area, shared additional information about the incident on her official X account. Her office is coordinating with the 109th Precinct to share information as the investigation progresses.

Due to heighted emergency personnel in the area, the NYC Department of Emergency Management advised people to avoid the area. Traffic delays and road closures were present throughout the day on Wednesday.

Golias, a high school senior, was set to graduate from The Bronx High School of Science this spring, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was also treasurer of Tech4Teens, a student founded organization that hoped to bridge the digital divide by increasing access to technology and digital literacy skills to underprivileged communities.

He planned to attend Boston University after graduation, according to his social media page.
