A St. Albans man surrendered himself at the 111th Precinct in Bayside on Tuesday morning after he was indicted by a Queens grand jury in a fatal hit-and-run near JFK Airport nearly three years ago.

Andre Dweyer, 34, of 104th Avenue near Detective Keith L. Williams Park, was arraigned later in the day in Queens Supreme Court, where he was criminally charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident without reporting and related crimes for allegedly striking 38-year-old Dimitry Maneiro during the early morning of Sep. 27, 2021.

Police from the 105th Precinct responded to a 911 call of an unconscious man at Rockaway Boulevard and Brookville Boulevard at around 1 a.m., where they found the victim lying on the roadway with severe trauma to his body, police said. EMS responded to the location and pronounced Maneiro dead at the scene.

An investigation by the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad determined that Maneiro, who lived at a nearby hotel on Brookville Boulevard, was attempting to cross Rockaway Boulevard when he was allegedly struck by Dweyer, who was behind the wheel of a 2014 Infiniti which was traveling northbound on Rockaway Boulevard. He is accused of speeding away from the scene and was criminally charged with two counts of failure to exercise due care.

Dweyer was released on a $100,000 bond and ordered to return to court on July 24.
