New York City has launched a housing lottery for six units in a 3-story residential use condominium building at 12-19 31st Dr. in Astoria.
The building has 17 total residences, with 11 being at market rate. All six affordable units are meant for those earning 130% of the area median income, with two being one-bedroom units and four being two-bedroom units.
The monthly rent for the affordable one-bedroom units is $2,600. These units are intended for households of up to three people, who combine to earn an annual income ranging from $89,143-$181,740.
The affordable two-bedroom units have a monthly rent of $3,100. These units can house up to five people, who are required to have an annual income between $106,286 and $218,010.
Amenities for residents of the building include washers, dryers and dishwashers in each unit, high-end countertops and finishes, air-conditioning, energy-efficient appliances, high-speed internet and cable or satellite TV. Residents will also have access to assigned parking spaces, bike storage lockers and patios or balconies. Additionally, they have online options to pay rent and make maintenance requests. Tenants are responsible when it comes to electricity.
The building features gated access, an accessible entrance, security cameras, and an intercommunication device to help ensure residents’ safety. It also has an elevator and an outdoor terrace. It is smoke-free and pet-friendly. A path for jogging, walking, or biking is located within close proximity to the building as well.
Those who wish to apply for an affordable unit at 12-19 31st Dr. must meet the housing and income size requirements. Those who live in New York City receive a general preference for units. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by July 29. Qualified applicants will also be required to meet additional selection criteria.
