A local nonprofit based in Jamaica has partnered with a care management agency to help support Queens families facing health crises.

Butterflies By Blaq Inc. (ButterfliesBBI) has announced a new collaboration with Serenity Community Care as part of its Empower360 Initiative. This initiative aims to expand the support available to families facing health and wellness challenges.

Butterflies BBI has spent over 12 years providing free hair replacements and solutions to children suffering from hair loss due to medical conditions. Through custom wigs, hairpieces, and hair hats, the organization has brought joy and a renewed sense of confidence to inner-city children of various ethnic backgrounds.

“Seeing the difference our services have made in the lives of children has been incredibly rewarding,” said Erna Blackman, Founder of Butterflies BBI. “With Serenity Community Care joining us, we can now expand our mission and provide even more holistic support to the families we serve.”

Serenity Community Care is known for its commitment to advocating for Medicaid-eligible individuals with chronic behavioral and physical health challenges. Their holistic approach ensures that every family member, from the youngest to the oldest, receives the care and resources they need to thrive.

The collaboration will now include emotional support through counseling, physical wellness programs, mental health resources, community engagement opportunities, skills development like music and art therapy, and even a Big Brother, Big Sister program for after-school support.

This collaboration represents a significant step forward in providing necessary support systems to families. Serenity Community Care will continue to advocate for their clients, helping them navigate the complexities of health and wellness with greater ease.
