Senator Liu hosting Senior Appreciation events in Flushing this month

Senator John Liu is hosting a series of events in Flushing in honor of Senior Appreciation Month.

All the events will be held at community centers geared toward seniors. From mooncake celebrations to a slew of birthday celebrations, there are several events to choose from this month.

Senator Liu expressed gratitude to seniors in his district and shared the importance of the annual tradition each September.

“Senior Appreciation Month is a wonderful Queens tradition that invites all to spend time with and celebrate our vibrant senior citizen community. Our seniors are cornerstones of our families who have so much to tell, and we take time this month to hear their stories, learn from their wisdom, and celebrate their contributions to our community,” he said.

“Special thanks to our area’s amazing senior centers for providing such comprehensive services and enrichment experiences, and especially to our seniors who continue to contribute to our community and inspire us daily!”

Mooncake Festival

Senator Liu will celebrate the Mooncake Festival, also known as the mid-autumn festival in Chinese culture, by delivering mooncakes to two centers in Flushing.

Monday, Sept. 16 at 1:30 p.m.

22nd Anniversary of KCS

The Korean Community Services organization, which also has centers in Bayide and Corona, will celebrate its 22nd anniversary at its Flushing Senior Center.
