A motorcyclist from Jamaica was killed in a crash near Mount Olivet Cemetery in Middle Village on Friday afternoon.
Police from the 104th Precinct in Ridgewood responded to a 911 call of a vehicle collision at 69th Street and Eliot Avenue at 5:15 p.m., where they found the 39-year-old man on the roadway with severe trauma to the head and body, police said Sunday. EMS responded to the scene and rushed the injured motorcyclist to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The deceased was identified as Keron Frederick of 168th Street in Jamaica.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Squad determined that Frederick was riding a 2013 white Suzuki G5X-R600 motorcycle traveling southbound on 69th Street. At the same time, a 29-year-old man was behind the wheel of a 2023 black Kia Forte heading northbound on 69th Street, and attempting to make a left turn onto westbound Eliot Avenue. While the Kia was in the intersection making the turn, the motorcycle slammed into the passenger side of the Kia, causing Frederick to be ejected from the motorcycle.
According to the NYPD, the Kia driver remained at the scene and was not arrested at this time. The investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad remains ongoing.
