A third-prize-winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Flushing for the Jan. 4 drawing, the New York Lottery announced Sunday.
The winning ticket was purchased at Freshmart, located at 40-38 Union St. This adds to Flushing’s recent streak of lottery success, including a $256 million jackpot winner just last month.
The winning numbers for Powerball are drawn from a field of one to 69, with the red Power Ball drawn separately from a field of one to 26. Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. and are broadcast live for millions of hopeful players nationwide.
The New York Lottery remains North America’s largest and most profitable lottery, contributing $3.8 billion to New York State public schools in the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
