Air China will soon have a new home at John F. Kennedy International Airport, with plans to begin operations at the New Terminal One in 2026, airport officials announced this week.

The major airline carrier is the latest to join the state-of-the-art terminal, part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s ongoing $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport. The move is expected to enhance the travel experience for Chinese passengers flying to and from the United States, while deepening Air China’s footprint in the New York market.

Air China currently operates five weekly flights between JFK and Beijing Capital International Airport using a Boeing 747-8 aircraft.

The airline will become the fifth Star Alliance carrier to select the New Terminal One as its New York City base of operations. Other airlines slated to operate from the terminal in 2026 include Air France, KLM, Etihad, LOT Polish Airlines, Korean Air, EVA Air, Air Serbia, SAS, Neos, Philippine Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air New Zealand, and Royal Air Maroc.

Jennifer Aument, CEO of The New Terminal One, praised the growing partnership.

“Their collaboration has been invaluable in shaping an extraordinary guest experience, and we look forward to a lasting partnership that supports Air China’s growth in the New York market,” she said.

Peng Lei, General Manager of Air China for North America, called the move a reaffirmation of the airline’s commitment to bridging cultures and delivering a premium passenger experience.

“We’re thrilled to call the New Terminal One at JFK Airport our home, reaffirming our commitment to provide our guests with the best of both worlds and connecting two of the world’s most vibrant, cosmopolitan cities,” Peng said. “From the moment travelers step aboard our flight, we welcome them into a world where they can experience China’s rich tapestry of centuries-old culture and history, our tradition of warm, welcoming hospitality, and market-leading innovations.”

The New Terminal One is part of a sweeping modernization project that includes two new terminals, two expanded and upgraded terminals, a new ground transportation center, and a simplified roadway network. The project aims to establish JFK as a world-class gateway with seamless international connectivity and elevated passenger amenities.
