Luck was in the air in southeast Queens this weekend, as a local lottery player scored big in the May 10 Take 5 Evening drawing.

The New York Lottery announced that a top-prize ticket worth $34,362 was sold at Linden Convenience Corp, located at 189-07 Linden Blvd. in St. Albans. The winning ticket matched all five numbers drawn from the pool of 1 through 39.

Take 5 is one of the New York Lottery’s most accessible games. It offers players two chances to win daily—once at 2:30 p.m. and again at 10:30 p.m. Winners can claim their prizes up to one year from the date of the drawing.

The New York Lottery remains the most profitable in North America, contributing $3.8 billion in the 2023–2024 fiscal year to support public education across the state. A portion of every ticket sold helps fund New York’s schools, making each game more than just a shot at winning — it’s also a contribution to community investment.

Players are reminded that lottery games are for enjoyment and should be played responsibly. Help is available to those experiencing gambling-related problems by visiting NYProblemGamblingHelp.org or calling the confidential HOPEline at 1-877-8-HOPENY (1-877-846-7369).
