Shootings in Ridgewood & Maspeth, a new pizza joint in Astoria, and 8 more top stories from Queens

It seems as if Halloween brought all the ghouls out across Queens as crime stories dominated the headlines this week.

From a shooting in Ridgewood on Halloween to ATM skimmers and mail fishing scammers, there was plenty of crime to go around the “World’s Borough.”

Here are our top 10 stories for the week:

  1. An argument between three men on Norman Street in Ridgewood turned violent when one of those individuals pulled out a gun and shot the other two in broad daylight.
  2. A woman from Maspeth, a man from Jamaica and another woman from Staten Island arrested and charged for a burglary pattern across Queens which targeted the elderly. Often times the crooks would pose as utility workers to gain access to the house where they would steal from their elderly victims.
  3. A popular Maspeth BBQ joint was the scene of a shooting when a man pulled a gun out of a vehicle and shot his victim in the abdomen.
  4. Bayside, Douglaston and Little Neck have been plagued by financial crimes including having their information stolen from ATM skimming devices and people dipping sticky objects into U.S. Postal Service mailboxes to steal the contents of the envelopes.
  5. The city has released a list of possible routes for its proposed Brooklyn Queens Connector street car line that would travel through Long Island City and Astoria.
  6. This new pizzeria in Astoria will bring an interesting twist to the classic pizza joint by offering barbeque pizza and brunch.
  7. A daughter has joined her father’s real estate company and they have worked together to make a splash in the ever-changing Astoria real estate market.
  8. Ridgewood was getting ready to celebrate its newest, and largest, historical district which will protect nearly 1,000 century-old homes in the neighborhood.
  9. A bizarre crime story where a woman attacked a passenger at an A train platform in Ozone Park with her show.
  10. Television show “Power” shot scenes in Bayside on Tuesday.
