Two-day gaming convention comes to South Ozone Park this weekend

GameACon, a major gaming convention, is coming to Resorts World Casino New York City for the first time this weekend.

The two-day convention will begin on Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. and end on Nov. 18 at 10 p.m. at 110-Rockaway Blvd. South Ozone Park, according to Resorts World Casino NYC.

Guests will be able to cosplay as their favorite video game character, check out board games, attend panels, compete in gaming tournaments, and discover new games at one of the largest eSports events this year, according to Resorts World Casino NYC.

“Resorts World is excited to host its first GameACon, which celebrates video game creators and developers,” said Michelle Stoddart, the director of Public Relations and Community Development at Resorts World Casino.

The purpose of the convention is to celebrate game development and fan culture, according to Resorts World Casino NYC.

Attendees will be able to enjoy Virtual Reality Village, which has games from Saber VR and will exhibit games produced by independent developers, according to Resorts World Casino NYC. They will also be able to participate in the first ever Project Cars 2 Virtual Reality Tournament, which is a virtual reality simulated racing game and the winner will get $250.

There will also be a Fortnite tournament with a $2,500 grand prize, according to the casino.

Tickets for the convention can be purchased on the Resorts World Casino New York City website.

“This is a great event for fans from our community to participate in eSport tournaments, discover new video games and explore the latest advances in virtual reality technology.”
