Police have arrested a suspect connected to a fatal shooting at a Jackson Heights subway station on Sunday afternoon — but detectives continue to seek others involved.
According to authorities, at 12:43 p.m. on Feb. 3, police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at the 90th Street-Elmhurst Avenue subway station. Upon their arrival, police found 20-year-old Abel Mosso, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to the head.
EMS responded to the scene and declared the man dead at the location.
An investigation found that Mosso had gotten into an altercation with two men while riding the 7 train. When the train pulled into the station, the fight spilled out onto the southbound platform, and one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the Mosso.

In a press conference, police confirmed that the victim was shot more than once during the altercation. Police believe that the incident is gang-related.
“We’re looking at every possibility. We’re leaving no stone unturned,” said the NYPD.
The NYPD is calling on riders of the 7 train to send in video of the incident if they have it. Anyone with information or video can call 800-557-TIPS.
“If intimidation is MS-13’s goal when its members resort to gun violence — as is reportedly the case in Sunday’s fatal shooting of a man on the 90th Street stop on the 7 train — or when they spray paint gang graffiti in our neighborhoods — as they did on my district office this weekend — they will fail in those endeavors. We are stronger than any senseless display of force,” said Councilman Francisco Moya. “My heart goes out to the family of the man fatally shot in broad daylight on Sunday. Nobody deserves to lose a loved one in such a horrific manner and you have my sincere condolences for your loss.”
Following an ongoing investigation, police arrested 26-year-old Ramiro A. Gutierrez. He was charged with murder, gang assault and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
The suspect at large is described as a Hispanic man between the ages of 30 and 35 years old with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers.
The investigation is ongoing.
