Southeast Queens residents cited traffic congestion along the Merrick Boulevard and Guy R. Brewer Boulevard transit corridors as well as the congestion at the Parsons Boulevard and Archer Avenue intersection as two of the most dire problems affecting local area transportation.
More than 60 southeastern Queens residents voiced their concerns about the state of public transportation in their district during a public meeting last Thursday at the MBU Bridge Home at 120-50 Springfield Blvd. in Cambria Heights.
Assemblywoman Barbara Clark (D-Queens Village) told representatives from the MTA that heavily trafficked areas of southeast Queens such as the Merrick Boulevard and Guy R. Brewer Boulevard transit corridors do not have enough buses to handle the traffic.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is conducting a study to determine the transportation deficiencies and needs of southeast Queens residents. The MTA said it is trying to complete the study by late fall.
