Deck The Walls, a mall-based framing and art shop, invites children nationwide to participate in a national art contest to celebrate National Art and Framing Month. The Deck The Walls Kids Masterpiece Contest is open to boys and girls ages 12 and younger. The grand prize winner and the winner’s parents will receive a free trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. The winning entry also will be professionally framed.
To enter, children can submit an original piece of art or a reproduction of the art to: Deck The Walls Kids Masterpiece Contest, 12860 Hill rest, Suite 220, Dallas, TX 75230.
A panel of judges, including professional artists, will select one finalist from each state from which an entry is received. State winners will be announced Nov. 22 and the public will be invited to join the judges in selecting the Grand Prize winner and nine runners-up by voting on their favorite entry at Deck The Walls locations and online through Dec. 13.
Official entry forms, which must accompany all entries, are available at Deck The Walls locations nationwide or online at www.deckthewalls.com. Entries must be received at the contest clearinghouse no later than Nov. 15. Entry forms and more information can also be obtained by writing the Deck The Walls Kids Masterpiece Contest clearinghouse or by calling 972-490-0903.
“Children are prolific artists and we want to celebrate their creative spirit,” said Tony Martinez of Deck The Walls. “Who knows, the work of a future master may be hanging on a family’s refrigerator right now.” Finalists will have their artwork professionally framed by Deck The Walls using materials from the Framerica Kid Stuf line. Selected entries will also be transferred to canvas courtesy of Old Grange Graphics. The nine national runners up will receive art activity books in addition to having their artwork framed.
“This is a great opportunity for children to show off their artistic talents and win a trip to Disney World in the process,” said Martinez. “October is National Art and Framing Month, and Deck The Walls encourages kids to get out their paints, markers, pencils and crayons and express their creative talents.”
