The Garden School recently announced they will be hosting their yearly Annual Spring Fundraiser Thursday May 11th, from 7 to 11 p.m. in the school auditorium, located at 33-16 79th Street in Jackson Heights. Tickets are $100 per person and $85 prior to May 1st.
The fundraiser, intended to help improve the school’s facilities, expand curriculum and retain their terrific staff, will offer a delectable night of food and wine tasting in addition to a comedy showcase. The food aspect of the evening will be an open competition among the participating chefs for the title of “Outstanding Chef.” Each cook will provide enough samples of their signature dish for each guest to sample and then vote on.
To date, the Garden School has received confirmation that chefs from Culinary Concepts Services, Inc., La Pequena Colombia, Salamanca, and Uncle Peters will offer their services. U.S. Food, the Jackson Heights’ school food vendor, will provide a dessert table. Any chefs or restaurants interested in joining the competition can call Manuel Fernandes Jr., director of fundraising and development at the Garden School, at (718) 335-6363.
In addition to the food tasting, a comedy showcase and informal wine tasting will be a part of the grand event. The school has yet to confirm comedians or wine vendors.
