Man Poses As Cop, Pulls Over Real One

A 24-year-old Glen Oaks man was arrested on August 14 for posing as a police officer.
According to reports, George Mathew placed a blue flashing light on the dashboard of his Honda SUV and attempted to pull drivers over on the Long Island Expressway.
&#8220He [was] not trying to get past people but instead intimidate people to pull over,” Lt. Kevin Smith, a Nassau police spokesman, said.
Matthew allegedly tailed an off-duty officer in an attempt to get him to pull over. After weaving between lanes, the real officer pulled over onto the shoulder near exit 35, flashed his badge, and detained Mathew, a city parking meter money collector, until Nassau police highway units arrived. He was being held on $10,000 bail yesterday after his arraignment on charges of criminal impersonation, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.
