Named tops in orthopedic surgery

Dr. Geoffrey Westrich is among a select group of orthopedic surgeons featured in the latest edition of Top Doctors: New York Metro Area, published by Castle Connolly. The book is the authoritative guide to finding the best physicians in the tri-state area, representing the top 10 percent of doctors in more than 70 medical specialties, according to the publisher.
Westrich is an orthopedic surgeon, associate professor of Orthopedic Surgery and Director of Joint Replacement Research at the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. He also has an office in Fresh Meadows.
Physicians named in the Top Doctors guide are selected based on a survey of their peers and hospital executives.
According to the publisher, they “seek nominations not only of those who excel in academic medicine and research but, most importantly, those doctors who exhibit excellence in patient care, someone to whom nominating physicians would send members of their own family.”
“I’m honored to be among the select group of physicians named in this guidebook,” said Westrich. Board-certified in orthopedic surgery, Westrich specializes in hip and knee injuries and disease, minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, and total joint replacement. He is considered a leading researcher in blood clot prevention following joint replacement and has received numerous awards for his work.
He belongs to a number of professional societies, including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Orthopedic Association, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Arthritis Foundation and the Eastern Orthopedic Association.
