Jamaica man killed in love triangle

Police are saying that a 37-year-old Jamaica man was murdered by a rival for the affections of a New York City Corrections officer. Jamal Leavy was found shot in the head in front of 109-42 142nd Street in Jamaica after 8 p.m. on Monday, November 5, in the confines of the 103rd precinct.
Cops determined that Leavy, a convicted thief and drug dealer, was romantically linked to Correction Officer Shante Dalton, 29, who lives in a public housing development in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx.
They also determined that Dalton, the mother of two children, had a live in boyfriend, Marlon Sanders, who also has an arrest record.
Cops reportedly arrived at the sixth-floor apartment in the Pelham Parkway Houses on Bronxwood Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday, November 6, to question Sanders, but those inside refused to open the door.
The resulting standoff brought swarms of police and a Hostage Negotiation Team to the scene. After a tense 90 minutes, Dalton and Sanders were taken out of the dwelling, along with Dalton’s two young children.
Dalton was reportedly released without criminal charges after hours of questioning. Sanders is in custody on murder and weapons charges.
