Burglary Spree In Howard Beach

Officers of the 106th Precinct want the Howard Beach community to be aware that there has been a rash of burglaries in the area. On one occasion, two males were observed breaking into the rear door of a home. Another witness observed these same two individuals walking around the Howard Beach area. The 106th Precinct is asking that if you see suspicious persons or activity in your neighborhood, call 9-1-1. In addition, cops suggest following these preventative measures to decrease the risk of becoming a victim of burglary:

  • Always lock your windows and doors when you are not at home.
  • Keep your home well lit.
  • Keep bushes and trees which could obstruct the view of your home trimmed so your home can be seen clearly from the street.
  • Arming alarm systems; video cameras; and securing important items in a safe are some examples of proactive steps you can take to secure your home.
  • Crime prevention surveys are available by request to learn how to better secure your home or business.
  • Report suspicious activity to the police immediately. Call the 106th Precinct Detective Squad at 718-845-2260.
