It has only been two weeks since Dom Cecala took over the Archbishop Molloy girls basketball varsity, replacing John McGlynn, but already his new players seem to be thriving under the change.
The Stanners have won all four of their games since Cecala grabbed the reins, including a 58-28 thrashing of White Plains in the JFK Challenge last Saturday evening. Shannon Lavelle led the Stanners with 12 points, Marielle Duryea added 10 and Kelly Guerriero and Kyra Aloizos each scored nine.
That, Cecala said, was by far the most impressive showing. But the Stanners (12-5) also beat a solid Norwich High School (Connecticut) team earlier in the week despite trailing by 14 at one point in the first half and by 10 at halftime, only to come back to win by 11, 43-32. Molloy also came from behind to beat Neptune (New Jersey) as well.
