Passover trash collection sites

The city’s Department of Sanitation has announced a special pre-Passover trash pickup for all homeowners living near Hillcrest, Utopia Estates, Jamaica Estates, Holliswood and Kew Gardens Hills on Friday, April 18.
Bins will also be placed in four locations, as will special burning stations, for the safe disposal of “Chometz.”
Jewish law requires the ridding of households of the material, collectively, products made from five grains used in leavened bread products in ancient times.
The four locations are:
Across from the Torah Center of Hillcrest, located at 171-05 Jewel (Harry Van Arsdale) Avenue. This location was used last year.
In front of the Young Israel of Jamaica Estates, located at 83-10 188th Street. This location was also used last year.
In front of the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills located at 70-11 150th Street. This is the first year this location will be used.
In front of the Young Israel of Queens Valley located at 141-55 77th Avenue, near the parking lot. This is also a new location.
The burning stations will be available from 6 to 11 a.m. on Friday, April 18.
The effort is the result of a collaboration of the city’s Police, Fire and Sanitation Departments, the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit and Community Board 8.
