Jamaica man wrecks car, steals items in it: DA

JAMAICA — A Jamaica man was arrested after allegedly attacking a car, breaking the mirrors and steering wheel, and taking off with about 20 compacts discs, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

Simon Balbueno, 33, allegedly kicked the driver’s car with his foot and proceeded to break the side view mirrors, windshield wipers, the interior light, the steering wheel, the blinker signal and the ceiling lining around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 28, the DA said. The car was located at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard in Jamaica.

After allegedly vandalizing the vehicle, Balbueno swiped the victim’s cell phone charger, CD holder and the CDs, according to Brown.

Balbueno was charged with criminal mischief, petit larceny and unauthorized use of a vehicle, the DA said.
