The high winds on Thursday, April 29 felled a tree branch onto power lines, sparking a fire that destroyed a Richmond Hill church.
The Deeper Life Fellowship Inc., at 91-31 111th Street, was heavily damaged in the three-alarm blaze that took 135 firefighters five hours to control.
Two homes were additionally damaged, and five firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Reportedly, the tree limb had been a problem, with calls logged into the city’s 3-1-1 system.
