LONG ISLAND CITY – On Thursday, September 30, Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer, began distributing more than 6,000 school supplies to local schools throughout his district, starting with I.S. 204 in Long Island City.
In just three weeks, more than 6,000 items were collected from residents and business owners who displayed their generosity by donating thousands of school supplies for neighborhood children in need.
Van Bramer kicked off the school supply distribution with a visit to I.S. 204’s sixth grade art class to deliver school supplies and see first hand how the children are utilizing the much needed art supplies that were donated.
