The American Heart Association has announced its fourth annual Queens Go Red for Women breakfast event to bring together community and business leaders and raise awareness on heart health.
The event will be held on Thursday, June 9 at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Hotel in Flushing.
According to the American Heart Association, the Queens Go Red for Women Committee is comprised of community and business leaders, who have dedicated their efforts to raising awareness and funds for the Go Red for Women movement – living a heart healthy lifestyle.
With a diverse assemblage throughout Queens, the breakfast luncheon will be honoring Jill Knee, director of community outreach for the New York Mets, and Lois Christie, president and chief executive officer of Christie & Co. Salon * Spa.
Diane M. Sixsmith, M.D., chair of the department of emergency medicine at New York Hospital Queens, will chair the June breakfast event.
“We are extremely excited to, once again, be hosting this Go Red For Women event in Queens and to be educating the Queens community that heart disease is their number one killer,” Sixsmith said.
The event will allow members of the community and professionals from different areas of Queens to meet and network, while being provided with cardiovascular disease information as part of the heart health movement.
“Go Red for your heart, for your health and for your loved ones,” noted the American Heart Association team. “Help us spread the Go Red For Women Movement throughout Queens.”
The 2011 American Heart Association Go Red For Women Breakfast will be nationally sponsored by Macy’s, Inc. and Merck & Co., Inc., with local media sponsors including The Queens Courier, WNBC, Telemundo, and the Long Island Radio Group.
