KEW GARDENS — A Queens woman was killed last month during the heat wave that has so far been implicated in 11 deaths throughout the city, according to the chief medical examiner.
The 30-year-old woman is the only Queens resident to be identified as having succumbed to the soaring heat. She died July 22 and the medical examiner’s office reported that she had an underlying medical problem of an undisclosed nature.
The temperature on the day the woman died reached 104 degrees, according to the New York Post, meaning it was the hottest day in the massive heat wave that lasted from late July through early August.
The total death tally from the heat wave so far includes seven Brooklyn residents, three Bronx residents and the Queens woman, according to the chief medical examiner’s office, which did not say where in Queens the woman lived or died.
