An accident involving a truck that spilled produce all over the eastbound Grand Central Parkway snarled traffic on both sides of the parkway for hours Tuesday morning. The Breaking News Network reported the truck was overturned on the parkway at 31st Street at 8:13 a.m.
About an hour later, workers picked up tomatoes and heads of lettuce littering the highway in Astoria, as motorists on the westbound side slowed to look at the crash. All lanes of the eastbound side were closed.
Vehicles coming into Queens from the Triboro Bridge were forced to exit at 31st Street and then get back onto the highway at the following entrance ramp.
BNN reported one injury in the accident. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
