‘Anything Goes’ this weekend as group stages Porter musical in Richmond Hill

HJC Teen Drama Group sets sail this weekend with its production of the Cole Porter musical “Anything Goes.”

Taking place aboard an ocean liner bound from New York to London, “Anything Goes” follows the madcap adventures of Billy Crocker who stows away to follow his love, the heiress Hope Harcourt, who is engaged to another man, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Also onboard are nightclub singer Reno Sweeney, the role made famous by Ethel Merman, and Public Enemy No. 13, Moonface Martin. Tunes include “You’re the Top,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Blow, Gabriel Blow” and the title song.

Performances take place through Aug. 11 at the Church of the Holy Child Jesus, Msgr. Murray Auditorium, 111-02 86th Ave., Richmond Hill.

Shows are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets are $10/adults and $8/seniors and children.
