A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with shooting a fellow LeFrak City resident to death early Sunday at the Corona complex where they both lived, police said.
Anton Harden was charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in the death of 27-year-old Corey Dixon, the NYPD said. As of 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Harden had not yet been arraigned, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney’s office said.
Authorities said they were called to 57th Avenue at 96th Street at about 3 a.m. and found Dixon, who had been shot in the torso.
He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died, cops said.
A makeshift memorial with several dozen candles and a poster featuring his photo and messages to the slain man was set up for Dixon on 96th Street.
A woman who identified herself as Dixon’s girlfriend said the longtime LeFrak resident was the father of three young children.
“He was a good guy. He loved his family,” she said.
