NYPD releases new photos in Astoria attempted rape case

Cops have released new pictures of a man who they say attempted to rape a woman in Astoria last month. 

The man allegedly tried to rape the woman on Feb. 23 at about 3:30 a.m. He approached the 23-year-old victim from behind as she was walking on 30th Avenue, and shoved her to the ground before trying to rape her, officials said.

The woman fought back, and the perpetrator fled.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male in his early 30s, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 145 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or can text their tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
