R’wood Team Takes Cyo Title

The St. Matthias Peewee Girls Basketball team won the inaugural CYO Summer Basketball League Championship last Wednesday night, Aug. 6 in a game played at Msgr. McClancy High School in East Elmhurst. St. Matthias beat St. Mel’s in a physical game. The St. Matthias girls were led by point guard Siobhán O’Donnell who scored 5 points and earned the Championship Game MVP Award. St. Matthias guards Alexis Casanas and Briana Urena scored two points each, and played excellent defense to seal the win. The Peewee Girls finished the summer season with a perfect 11-0 record.
