There was yet another major accident on the Whitestone Expressway on Wednesday morning, as a 32-year-old man was killed when his car fell off the elevated roadway in Flushing, police reported.
Authorities said the accident occurred at 11:41 a.m. on the expressway’s northbound lanes near Astoria Boulevard.
According to police, the 32-year-old male driver — Kevin Tamasar of 110th Street in Corona — was driving a 2008 Nissan when he lost control and struck a median.
The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to travel over the ramp and fall 25 feet to the ground below. The vehicle landed upside down in front of a business on Harper Street.
Officers from the 110th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the scene. Tamasar was transported to NewYork-Presbyterian/Queens hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation is ongoing.
Wednesday’s accident occurred close to the scene of another crash on the Whitestone Expressway in March in which a driver was hurled off the roadway and seriously injured. Earlier this month, a person was injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the expressway near the Cross Island Parkway exit.
