An unidentified man who is fighting for his life after being found with a head injury under a Long Island Expressway (LIE) overpass in Corona on Saturday morning may be homeless, according to police.

Sources familiar with the investigation said a bystander found the victim covered with a plastic bag on 108th Street under the LIE at about 7:45 a.m. on July 23 and contacted police.

Officers from the 110th Precinct and EMS units responded to the location and discovered that the man sustained blunt force trauma to the back of his head. Paramedics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital in very critical condition.

Authorities believe the man might be homeless as he was discovered near a known homeless encampment under the overpass. NYPD Crime Scene Unit officers, in investigating the location, found various clothing items.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
