Responsible citizens can perform their civic duty when they eat out at their favorite Queens food trucks today.
As part of the #NoshTheVote campaign hosted by the Mayor’s Office and the Urban Justice Center’s Street Vendor Project, three food trucks in western Queens will be equipped with voter registration forms and on-site volunteers.
The volunteers will be at participating food trucks until 4 p.m. today.
New Yorkers can register to vote until Oct. 14, and there are more than 2 million eligible city residents who have still not registered.
“We are fighting for every vote to count,” de Blasio said. “We’re working with some of NYC’s food trucks and street carts to serve up delicious food and voter registration forms. If we want a fairer and better country, we have to make sure every New Yorker who can vote does vote.”
Participating food trucks in Queens include Souvlaki Lady at Ditmars Boulevard and 33rd Street in Astoria, Amdo Kitchen at the north side of 37th Road and east of 74th Street in Jackson Heights and Magdy Jahin in front of the Falchi Building at 31-00 47th Ave. in Long Island City.
A total of 12 food trucks across the five boroughs are participating today, and people can still register to vote at voting.nyc until Friday. Food trucks will provide forms in English and Spanish, but voters can access the forms in 16 languages on the website.
